Five suspects, including three men from the same family, have been arrested for attacking an individual with sharp objects opposite a State Bank in the Kohuwala area.

The suspects, who were in hiding following the incident which had taken place on 15th July, were arrested by the Kohuwala Police yesterday, along with swords, knives, and a mobile phone.

The suspects have been identified as men between the ages of 20-29 and residents of the Arabakandha, Mangalasiripura, Wellawita, and Kandawatta, Wellathudella areas.

Investigations have revealed that the victim was involved in an affair with the wife of the chief suspect involved in the attack.

It has also been uncovered that the chief suspect had been involved in an affair with the victim’s sister.

The chief suspect is reported to have followed his wife in a rented vehicle on suspicion after she had left the house stating that she was going to the bank.

Despite the woman going to the bank as informed, the victim had also arrived at the bank due to which an altercation had broken out between the two men, ending in the suspect attacking the victim.

The suspect is reported to have fled in the rented vehicle he had arrived in along with the other suspects, which was later found abandoned near a car rental in the Piliyandala area by the Police. (NewsWire)
