A 36-year-old man has been arrested for shooting dead an Army soldier in the Thalawa Forest in Inginiyagala.
The Police said three men had illegally entered the forest for hunting and the suspect had opened fire at a deer.
It was later found that the man had accidentally shot his 27-year-old friend who had accompanied him to the forest.
The suspect who was arrested along with a firearm will be produced before the Ampara Magistrate’s Court today.
The Inginiyagala Police is conducting further investigations into the incident. (NewsWire)
