Forty-two (42) individuals have been arrested in connection to the protest that was staged in front of the Presidential Secretariat today.
Police spokesman, Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said the suspects included 26 men and 16 women.
Senior DIG Rohana said ten (10) vehicles were also seized for obstructing the road in front of the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo during the protest.
He said they have been arrested on charges of violating the quarantine regulations.
They have also committed certain offences under the Penal Code, such as unlawful assembly, Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He added that statements will be recorded from the suspects after which they will be produced in court today. (NewsWire)
