WATCH: Police sniffer dogs can now detect mosquito larvae

The Sri Lanka Police has trained two sniffer dogs from the Police Kennels Division to identify mosquito larvae.

Police spokesman, Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said sniffers dogs Johnny and Roma of the Police Kennels Division have been deployed for this purpose. 

Stating that the Police Department has around 200 sniffer dogs, he said they are primarily used to investigate crimes, identify suspects, detect explosives and narcotics.

The Police spokesman said special training has been provided for the Police sniffer dogs Johnny and Roma at the Kandy Kennels Division to detect mosquito larvae.

The two dogs will be deployed to assist during various raids and inspections carried out by the Environmental Protection Police officers. (NewsWire)
