All 44 individuals who were arrested for staging a protest in Colombo yesterday have tested negative for COVID-19, the Police said.
Police spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said 22 male teachers, 16 female teachers, and six outsiders were arrested in connection to the protest that was staged in front of the Presidential Secretariat.
The suspects had been subjected to Rapid Antigen Tests by the Colombo Municipal Council following their arrest, while they had all tested negative.
Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said statements have been recorded from the arrested individuals.
He added that they will be produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today. (NewsWire)
