Laugfs gas shortage : “Can’t refill cylinders from other companies”

August 5, 2021 at 3:47 PM

Gas cylinders can only be filled and distributed to the market via the gas company to which the cylinders belong, the Government announced today.

State Minister of Co-operative Services, Marketing Development and Consumer Protection Lasantha Alagiyawanna said filling the cylinders belonging to other companies with gas from another company was a violation of the law.

Laugfs Gas, which had suspended operations recently, has also reportedly filed several complaints stating that it was unable to supply gas to its consumers due to certain issues.

Litro Gas Lanka had earlier announced that it will refill the cylinders of Laugfs Gas after the company had announced the suspension of its operations.

State Minister Alagiyawanna stressed that measures will be taken to provide relief to consumers of Laugfs Gas, adding that there was no need to panic over a shortage of gas.

He further said Litro gas Lanka was also in possession of sufficient stocks to cater to the consumers affected by the suspension of operations of Laugfs Gas. (NewsWire)
