The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has granted approval to increase the price of gas cylinders provided by Laugfs Gas PLC.
The CAA said approval has been granted to increase the price of both the 12.5kg and 5kg gas cylinders.
Thereby, the price of a 12.5kg Laugfs gas cylinder has been increased by Rs. 363 to be sold at Rs. 1,856.
Meanwhile, the price of the 5kg Laugfs mini gas cylinder has been increased by Rs. 145 and will be sold at Rs. 743.
The price increase comes at a time when the company has suspended operations due to several issues.
Despite national gas provider Litro Gas Lanka offering to cater to the affected consumers of Laugfs gas, an alleged shortage of gas in Sri Lanka has been pointed out by several civil activists. (NewsWire)
