The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has urged the Government to learn from the song ‘Menike mage hithe” by Sri Lankan artist Yohani when making policy decisions on COVID-19.

SJB member Niroshan Padukka pointed out that the song has reached international fame and is a massive hit in India.

Pointing out that the original song was sung by someone else and not Yohani, he said, however, the cover version by Yohani has only reached international fame.

Padukka further said the Government can learn from this instance, and realize that Covid-related policies need not be taken single-handedly and on their own.

He said, instead, the Government could take collective decisions on Covid -related policies, after holding discussions with various parties, including the opposition and experts.

The SJB member said proposals on best practices by others can also be implemented by the Government and Yohani’s song is an example of such an instance.

The Government can include the relevant proposals of other individuals and implement such proposals, which may result in a successful approach to the pandemic, he added. (NewsWire)
