Two individuals have been arrested in connection to a large haul of equipment used for high-power explosives that were found in the Matara and Gandara areas.
The explosives were found following raids conducted by the Police Special Task Force (STF) based on tip-offs by the STF Special Operations Unit.
The STF personnel had seized a stock of ammonium nitrate, gelignite sticks, service threads, and other items during the raid.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the explosives were stored under the guise of operating a quarry.
The suspects along with the explosives have been handed over to the Matara Police Station for further investigations. (NewsWire)
