Opposition Leader MP Sajith Premadasa has written to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa calling for the release of imprisoned former Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake.
The Supreme Court sentenced Ramanayake to 04-years in prison over contempt of court charges.
In his letter, MP Premadasa requested the President to grant a presidential pardon to the former MP.
He pointed out that the President had given a favourable response when the matter was raised on an earlier occasion.
MP Sajith Premadasa said the latest letter has been handed over to the President as a reminder to address the matter. (NewsWire)
