Two individuals have been arrested on charges of assaulting and obstructing the duties of a Public Health Inspector (PHI) in the Thmbiripokuna area in Giribawa on Wednesday (01).
The Police said the incident had occurred when the officer had visited the Thmbiripokuna area to verify details of a Covid infected individual reported from the area.
The PHI officer had encountered two individuals travelling on a motorcycle without face masks in the area, after which he had admonished the two men.
The two men are reported to have verbally abused the PHI officer and had assaulted him as well.
Based on a complaint filed by the PHI officer, the two suspects, aged 24 and 45 from the Thmbiripokuna and Ashokapura areas in Giribawa, were arrested last morning (02).
The suspects have been remanded till Monday (06) after being produced before the Giribawa Magistrate’s Court yesterday. (NewsWire)
