Minister Sudarshani provides update on reopening the country

A  decline has been observed in the number of Covid infections and deaths currently being reported in Sri Lanka as a result of the 04- week quarantine curfew that was imposed from August, State Minister Sudarshani Fernandopulle said. 

The State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics, and COVID-19 Disease Control said, therefore, the country can be systematically reopened after Monday (20).

State Minister Sudarshani Fernandopulle made the observation to reporters following a visit to the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) Department in Seeduwa today. 

The islandwide quarantine curfew that was imposed on 20th August has been extended twice and is currently in effect until the 21st of September. 

The curfew was imposed due to the rapid spread of the Delta variant of the coronavirus. (NewsWire)
