President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has accepted State Minister of Prison Management and Prisoners’ Rehabilitation Lohan Ratwatte’s resignation.
The President’s Media Division (PMD) said that State Minister Ratwatte had tendered his resignation today over the recent incidents involving the Welikada and Anuradhapura prisons.
State Minsiter Lohan Ratwatte has resigned after taking responsibility over the two incidents that had occurred on Sunday (12), the PMD added.
Ratwatte’s resignation comes amidst accusations that he had forcefully entered the Welikada and Anuradhapura prisons on Sunday.
The State Minister is reported to have forcefully entered the prison complexes with a group of friends while being under the influence of alcohol.
He is also accused of having allegedly threatened two prisoners at the Anuradhapura prison. (NewsWire)
