AMS requests Govt. to extend lockdown, reveals why

The Association of Medical Specialists (AMS) has called on the Government to further extend the current islandwide lockdown imposed in Sri Lanka to the beginning of October.

Issuing a statement, the Association said Sri Lanka has just started to witness the positive impact of sustained lockdown with the gradually declining caseload, oxygen requirements, and mortality.

The AMS said one must not ignore that a further period of extension of these travel restrictions will be required to reap the benefits of all the sacrifices of the entire nation.

The Association further said, therefore, it requests the decision-makers to seriously consider taking this lockdown further to the beginning of early next month in an attempt to move to the “Green Zone” from the current “Red zone”. (NewsWire)
