Video footage has been released on a Police officer risking his life during a drug operation conducted by the Police in the Obeysekerapura area in Rajagiriya yesterday (20).
A group of Police officers in civil attire had inspected a three-wheeler that had passed on a suspicious parcel to a car near a junction in the area.
As the Police officers had turned towards the car for an inspection, the driver of the vehicle attempts to drive off during which one Police officer clings onto the bonnet of the vehicle in a bid to stop it.
However, the vehicle continues to drive off for quite a distance after which the Police Officer is thrown off, and the vehicle reportedly flees the area.
The Police officer is reported to have sustained injuries to his head and foot in the incident.
Meanwhile, during this time, the driver of the three-wheeler is also reported to have escaped from the clutches of the Police.
The incident portrays the risks faced by Police officers conducting operations to contain the drug menace in the country. (NewsWire)
