The Ministry of Environment has received reports of a fuel layer floating on the Diyawanna Lake (Parliament Lake) in Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte.
Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said the Director-General of the Central Environmental Authority has been instructed to conduct an inquiry and submit a report in this regard.
The fuel layer which has been spotted in the lake over the last two days had been brought to the notice of the Minister by his friend, while photographs of the affected part of the lake had also been submitted.
Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has further instructed officials to investigate if the fuel layer had been caused by an individual, group, or institution. (NewsWire)
