The Department of Immigration and Emigration states that it has issued 56,406 new passports in the past two months alone.
In the month of July, 27,326 new passports were issued while 28,903 new passports for all countries were issued in the month of August, according to Aruna newspaper.
During the 1st eight months of this year, as of 31st of August, the department has issued 161,820 new passports.
The number is showing an increasing trend compared to 2020 where a total of 204,081 new passports were issued throughout the entire year. (NewsWire)
