A website has been launched as a memorial for the individuals who died due to COVID-19 in Sri Lanka.

Referred to as “Sri Lanka COVID-19 Memorial”, the website has been created to remember the victims as more than numbers, as they are civilians, healthcare workers, spouses, siblings, parents, children, friends, and loved ones.

Stating that each individual has their own story and leaves behind a unique legacy, the website added that so far it has documented the details of 761 people and will continue to add more details as it receives information.

Each victim has been symbolized as a flower, which shares their age, sex, and where they are from, as recorded by the Government.

The memorial website has been conceptualized and created by an intergenerational group of volunteers.
