The Ella Wala waterfall in Wellawaya has been closed for tourists until further notice.
The decision has been taken after 3 members from the same family had drowned at the waterfall on Monday (25).
The victims were identified as a father and his two daughters.
A total of 06 deaths due to drowning have been reported at the waterfall in the recent past.
As a result, the Wellawaya Environment Committee has decided to close the tourist attraction until further notice.
Wellawaya District Secretary Chandana Ratnayake said the waterfall will be reopened for tourists after implementing a safety programme. (NewsWire)
