Two individuals have been arrested by the Welikada Police for attempting to break open an automatic teller machine (ATM) in Rajagiriya.
The suspects had attempted to break open the ATM that was situated opposite the main entrance of a luxury apartment in Rajagiriya.
However, the two men had failed to break open the ATM or steal the money inside the machine.
The incident has been captured on a nearby CCTV camera. The damage caused to the ATM is yet to be assessed.
Among the two suspects arrested on suspicion over the incident, one has been identified as an employee of the Kotte Municipal Council.
The two suspects are residents of Bandaranaikepura in Rajagiriya and are reportedly addicted to drugs.
The Welikada Police is conducting further investigations into the incident. (NewsWire)
