Former President Maithripala Sirisena says he will step down as a member of Parliament if Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage’s allegations claiming that he owns three houses are proven.

MP Maithripala Sirisena informed Parliament yesterday that he was saddened by the allegations levelled against him by Minister Aluthgamage.

The Polonnaruwa District MP made the observation while delivering a special statement on the approval of the Speaker.

Maithripala Sirisena revealed that he was currently living in the house that was granted to him by Minister Keheliya Rambukwella and the house that he used while being President is currently being used by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Pointing out that Minister Aluthgamage had also stated that he had engaged in a discussion while drinking whiskey, the former President said he can prove that he does not consume alcohol or cigarettes.

Responding to Sirisena, MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage said he will make another statement in response later. (NewsWire)
