Easter attacks: Summons issued on IGP

The Colombo High Court today issued a summons on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) C.D. Wickramaratne to provide evidence in the case filed on the 2019 Easter attacks.

IGP Wickramaratne has been ordered to appear before the Colombo High Court on Monday (29) to provide evidence. 

He will testify pertaining to the case filed on former IGP Pujith Jayasundara with regard to the attacks.

On Monday (22), Jayasundara was charged with criminal negligence for failing to act despite receiving prior intelligence warnings on the Easter Sunday terror attacks that killed nearly 270 people. 

The Colombo High Court Trial-at-Bar read out the indictment filed against Jayasundara which consisted of 855 charges. (NewsWire)
