An explosion has been reported in a house in the Kandhegedera area in Nikaweratiya this afternoon (26).
According to Lankadeepa, the Nikaweratiya Police said the incident is suspected to be a gas explosion.
They said the house has been severely damaged due to the fire that had erupted as a result of the explosion.
No casualties or injuries were reported as the owner and his wife had gone to the paddy field, the elder child to school, and the younger child was placed at a relative’s house.
Relevant authorities are conducting investigations to ascertain if the explosion had occurred due to a leak in the domestic gas cylinder or other reasons.
A gas explosion was also reported in a house in the Pannipitiya area yesterday.
Several incidents of gas explosions have been reported from various parts of Sri Lanka in November alone. (NewsWire)
