The daily one-hour power cuts that were scheduled across the country due to the recent islandwide power outage will be cancelled from today, the Ministry of Power announced.
The Ministry said the power cuts have been cancelled as the 2nd and 3rd power generating plants at the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant have been restored and are fully functional.
Sri Lanka faced an islandwide power outage for several hours on Friday (03) due to a major breakdown at the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant.
As the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) had announced that it requires a couple of days to fix the breakdown, one-hour power cuts were scheduled daily between 06.00 pm and 09.00 pm islandwide.
Despite the latest announcement, the Ministry of Power has requested the public to use electricity sparingly. (NewsWire)
