08 restrictions relaxed including weddings and funerals

The Health Ministry has further relaxed restrictions under the COVID-19 Health Guidelines that were issued by the Director-General (DG) of Health Services.

The Government initially extended the existing guidelines that were issued until 15th December to 31st December 2021. 

However, the DG of Health Services has issued a new set of guidelines that are effective from today until 31st December. 

The new guidelines show that restrictions pertaining to weddings and funerals have been further relaxed. 

Following are the restrictions that have been further relaxed under the new guidelines:

  1. A maximum of 50% of the capacity of the hall is allowed for weddings.
  2. The ban on serving liquor at weddings has been lifted.
  3. A total of 30 persons are allowed to be present at a funeral at any given time.
  4. A maximum of 50% of the capacity of the hall is allowed for indoor gatherings.
  5. Restaurants have been permitted to allow 50% of the capacity for indoor dine-in services.
  6. Shops, groceries, pharmacies, and supermarkets are allowed 50% capacity of customers at a given time. 
  7. Financial institutions have been permitted to allow 25 customers at a given time.
  8. A maximum of 50% of the capacity of the room or hall allowed for office/ corporate meetings.
