The State-owned Enterprise (SOE) Restructuring Board has proposed to suspend government assistance to five of the 527 state owned enterprises and to restructure those institutions.
The proposals are for Sri Lankan Airlines, Ceylon Electricity Board, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, National Water Supply and Drainage Board and Sri Lanka Transport Board.
According to the State-owned Enterprise (SOE) Restructuring Board out of 527 state institutions, 77 recorded a total loss of Rs. 1.2 trillion from 2006 to 2020.
Another 55 institutes had a revenue of Rs. 1.27 trillion during the same period.
The total loss incurred by Sri Lankan Airlines was Rs. 330 billion and it has also obtained loans of Rs. 43.5 billion on treasury guarantee. (NewsWire)
