Minister announces date for Central Expressway section-2 opening

The Mirigama to Kurunegala stretch of the Central Expressway will be vested with the public on 15th January 2022, Minister of Highways Johnston Fernando said today. 

He said the Mirigama to Kurunegala stretch is the second phase of the Central Expressway.

The 39.7 km long road will pass through Mirigama, Nakalagamuwa, Pothuhera and Dambokka, before reaching Kurunegala.

The section from Mirigama to Kurunegala will consist of four lanes and will also have five interchanges.

The Mirigama to Kurunegala stretch of the Central Expressway reportedly has 12 bridges, 140 boulders, and 42 culverts.

The public will be able to travel the approximately 39.7 km distance between the two points within 25 minutes. (NewsWire)
