Police to get 750 Jeeps from India

A total of 750 jeeps are to be procured for the Sri Lanka Police under the Indian Line of Credit, the Government said today.

The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to purchase 750 jeeps for Sri Lanka Police including 150 jeeps for the Police Special Task Force.

Stating that bids had been invited from companies recommended by the Indian Export and Import Bank, the Cabinet of Ministers said it had granted approval to the proposal presented by the Minister of Public Security.

As per the proposal, the procurement of jeeps for the Sri Lanka Police has been awarded to the Mahindra and Mahindra Company of India.

The decision has been taken subject to the recommendation of the standing procurement committee appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers. (NewsWire)
