A suspect who was arrested and remanded over the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks has reportedly died while receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital.
The Borella Police had informed the Colombo Magistrate’s Court that the suspect is a 42-year-old man from Kalmunai.
They further said the suspect had been admitted to the Prisons Hospital on November 23 last year due to an illness.
The man is reported to have been transferred to the Colombo National Hospital and had died while receiving treatment at the Intermediate Coronary Care Unit (ICCU) at the National Hospital.
Prisons Spokesman Chandana Ekanayake said the suspect was remanded on 06 April, 2021 over the Easter Sunday attacks. (NewsWire)
