The Ministry of Health has announced two key decisions pertaining to children in view of the prevalent coronavirus pandemic.

Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella has announced that the Health Ministry will commence administering the COVID-19 vaccine to children.

He said children between the ages of 12 and 15 years will be vaccinated from Friday, the 7th of January.

Meanwhile, the Director-General of Health Services has granted approval to the Ministry of Education to normalize academic activities in all schools.

The Education Ministry will implement the decision from Monday, the 10th of January.

As per the directive, the academic activities in all schools from Grade 01 to 13 are to be normalized from next Monday.

Schools resumed academic activities in phases last year (2021) after remaining closed for several months due to the coronavirus pandemic. (NewsWire)
