Drone: Indian couple get into trouble in Weligama

An Indian couple who had pleaded guilty for operating a drone without permission to capture footage of the Weligama coast have been imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000. 

The fine was imposed on the two individuals, who are said to be in the business field, by Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala yesterday (06). 

The couple had arrived in Sri Lanka on their honeymoon, during which they had operated a drone on the Weligama coast to capture pictures and video footage of themselves and the scenery. 

The Weligama Police had arrested the couple on charges of operating the drone without permission at Weligama Beach. 

They were produced in court by the Police on charges of having violated the Civil Aviation Act. (NewsWire)
