Former Minister Susil Premjayantha has called on the Government to conduct an inquiry into how an intelligence report on him had reached an MP first instead of the Head of the State Intelligence Service (SIS).

Speaking to the media yesterday, Premajayantha said Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Tissa Kutti Arachchi has made a serious revelation pertaining to him.

The MP had claimed that Premajayantha’s removal as a State Minister comes after receiving intelligence reports that he was involved in a conspiracy to topple the Government.

Responding to the statement, Premajayantha refuted such claims and called for an inquiry to be conducted to ascertain how an intelligence report had reached an MP.

He further said intelligence officers must focus on following the public to know their views with regard to issues in the country such as the gas shortage, instead of tailing politicians. (NewsWire)
