Rain predicted in several areas in next 36 hours

Showers can be expected in several parts of the country as the low-level atmospheric disturbance still persists to the southeast of Sri Lanka, the Department of Meteorology said today. 

The Department issued a general forecast for the country which will be in effect for the next 36-hours starting from 04.00 pm. 

It said showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Central, and Uva Provinces and in the Hambantota district. 

Fairly heavy showers above 75mm may occur at some places in the Eastern, Uva, and North-Central Provinces and in the Hambanthota and Matale districts. 

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts. 

The Met Department further said that heavy showers of about 100mm may occur at some places in the Ratnapura, Kaluthara, Galle, and Matara districts. (NewsWire)
