The Colombo High Court today temporarily lifted the international travel ban that was imposed on Minister Udaya Gammanpila.

The travel ban was imposed on the Minister over the case that was filed in relation to the illegal sale of shares of a company owned by an Australian businessman.

Minister Gammanpila is accused of misappropriating Rs. 19 million while selling shares of a company owned by an Australian businessman by forging a power of attorney.

The Court decided to temporarily lift the travel ban after Minister Gammanpila’s lawyer informed the court that the Minister intends to travel overseas for a personal and an official trip.

The lawyer further requested the court to lift the overseas travel ban imposed on Minister Udaya Gammanpila from the 23rd of January to the 29th of April.

Issuing the verdict to temporarily lift the travel ban, the court announced that the case will be taken up for hearing again on the 21st of March. (NewsWire)
