Notice for those who travelled during long weekend

The public has been requested to undergo PCR tests immediately if they have come into contact with an associate who is showing symptoms for COVID-19 after travelling last weekend. 

The request has been made by local health authorities in view of the recent long weekend which saw many people travel across the country. 

The health authorities said people who have come into contact with anyone who had travelled during the long weekend and is showing symptoms of the virus, immediately get tested. 

They requested the public to be vigilant of any signs or symptoms for COVID-19 including respiratory difficulties.

Sri Lanka is currently on alert for the Omicron variant of the coronavirus which is highly transmissible. 

Over 160 cases of Omicron have been detected so far in the country, according to the health authorities. (NewsWire)
