Video footage has been shared on social media on a group of people attempting to rescue passengers of a van who were in danger due to a sudden encounter with a wild elephant on the Buththala- Katharagama Road.
According to the video, the van had veered off the road and had gone into the forest area by the side of the road during which a wild elephant had appeared from within the jungle area.
As the vehicle was unable to pull out of the ditch the elephant is seen approaching the vehicle standing inches away from it.
However, a group of people in other vehicles near the van are seen working together and were able to prevent the elephant from attacking the passengers in the van. (NewsWire)
