Safari jeep operators at the Yala National Park have accused of harassing a tusker yesterday (24) after the animal had come face-to-face with vehicles that were blocking its path.

Several safari jeeps with local and foreign tourists had come upon the animal which was seen walking along the route.

The tusker was unable to continue its path as the safari jeeps had blocked its path.

As it had approached the closest jeep to continue walking, the jeep operators commenced honking without giving way to the animal.

Th tusker eventually fled into the nearby forest area after being frightened by a firecracker that was thrown by a jeep operator in an attempt to chase away the elephant.

Video footage of the irresponsible behaviour of the safari jeep operators harassing the tusker has been shared on social media. (NewsWire)
