A tourism zone similar to the Colombo Port City will be established surrounding the Galle Harbour, Minister of Ports & Shipping Rohitha Abegunawardhana said.
Speaking to reporters in Colombo, he said the Government has decided to construct the tourism zone on 40 hectares by filling sand.
The development is set to take place as part of the Government’s National Policy in which it has been outlined that the Galle Harbour will be developed as a tourism zone.
Minister Abegunawardhana further said shopping complexes, hotels, and housing-related to the tourism sector will be established through private investors in Galle, similar to the Colombo Port City.
He added that this project will enable Galle to be developed as a tourist attraction. (NewsWire)
