Minister of Tourism Prasanna Ranatunga has refuted reports claiming that he was involved in the incident where eggs were thrown at the vehicle of Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) Leader MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
It was reported that eggs had been thrown at MP Dissanayake’s vehicle at the National Peoples Power’s (NPP) Gampaha District Convention which was held yesterday (30).
Minister Ranatunga said as the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Gampaha District leader he strongly condemns the reports being circulated on social media connecting him to the incident.
“As a person who respects and believes it is one’s democratic right to hold a political rally, I have requested for a comprehensive investigation to be conducted into the matter,” he said.
Stating that he has already informed the relevant authorities in this regard, Minister Ranatunga said he has further called on the officials to take stringent action against those found guilty. (NewsWire)
