6 deaths in two three-wheeler accidents reported yesterday

Six people have died in two separate three-wheeler accidents that were reported in the Warakapola and Galle areas yesterday.

Two people had died after a three-wheeler plying from Kurunegala – Beruwala had collided head-on with a bus travelling from Colombo – Anuradhapura near the Thulhiriya junction in Warakapola. 

The driver of the three-wheeler and a 10-year-old male passenger had died on the spot, while three women and a man who had travelled in the three-wheeler have been admitted to the Kegalle hospital with injuries. 

Investigations have revealed that the people travelling in the three-wheeler were a group of relatives.

Meanwhile, four people had died in a train accident that was reported in Galle earlier yesterday. 

The Police said the accident had occurred after a train had collided with a three-wheeler at the Wellabada railway crossing in the Rathgama area in Galle. 

The three-wheeler had been hit by the Rajarata Rejini Express Train that was plying from Beliatta to Anuradhapura. 

Three people had died on the spot, while another person had died after being admitted to the Karapitiya hospital. The deceased include three people from the same family. (NewsWire)
