Minister of Energy Udaya Gammanpila has assured a continuous supply of fuel to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) for a week, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) announced today.

Chairman of the PUCSL Janaka Ratnayake confirmed that the Minister has promised a continuous supply of fuel for a week.

The assurance comes after several areas experienced power disruptions yesterday due to the third generator of the Lakvijaya Power Plant in Norochcholai breaking down again due to a technical fault.

However, the PUCSL announced this morning that the generator has been rectified.

The Chairman of the PUCSL Janaka Ratnayake said the generator has been reconnected to the National Grid after being fixed.

He added that following the reconnection it had commenced producing 100 MW of electricity. (NewsWire)
