Minister of Environment Mahinda Amaraweera has tested positive for Covid-19.
He is the latest Parliamentarian to contract the virus after nearly 11 MPs were reported to have tested positive earlier.
Speaker of the Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Kumara Welgama had tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday (29).
Previously nine (09) other Parliamentarians had been detected with the virus by 25th January.
Minister Sarath Weerasekara and MPs Nalaka Bandara Kotegoda, Sarathi Dushantha Mithrapala, and Shanakiyan Rasamanickam had initially tested positive.
Thereafter, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Rohini Kaviratne, and Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MPs Amarakeerthi Athukorala and Kokila Gunawardena were reported to have contracted the virus.
Ministers Jayantha Samaraweera and Dilum Amunugama were later confirmed to have tested positive. (NewsWire)
