A foreign couple is reported to have encountered a wild elephant attack on the Polonnaruwa- Habarana Road in Minneriya.
The Police said the vehicle that the couple was travelling in had come under attack by the wild elephant yesterday.
The vehicle that was travelling towards Polonnaruwa had stopped in order for the couple to take a picture of a wild elephant that had appeared on the right side of the road.
The Police said the wild elephant had then attacked the vehicle and had pushed it off the road making it topple over.
The couple had survived unhurt in the incident, while the vehicle had been severely damaged by the elephant.
The Minneriya Police has later safely transported the foreign couple to their accommodation. (NewsWire)
