Eight former Parliamentarians are facing possible legal action for failing to settle their due fines for remaining at official quarters without permission.

The Parliament’s Administration Department said the eight Parliamentarians are those who were defeated in the previous General Election.

The group is reported to have failed to pay the fines charged for the failure to vacate the premises on time.

A fine of Rs. 500 is charged per day for failing to vacate the official quarters upon the conclusion of the authorized period of accommodation.

The Parliament’s Administration Department further said that the relevant former MPs have also been asked for a second time to settle the pending electricity and water bill payments.

The Department further added that it will be compelled to take legal action if the eight former Parliamentarians disregard the reminders. (NewsWire)
