Chairman of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) Sumith Wijesinghe says that even though CPC has requested permission from the government to increase fuel prices, the government has not responded to the request so far.

He further said that the proposal with the increase of prices was submitted to the government and if the government agrees to implement the fuel price revision, the loss incurred by the corporation could be minimized.

Lanka IOC increased its fuel prices for Diesel and Petrol (Octane 95) by Rs 3/- and Petrol (Octane 92 ) by Rs 7/- per liter with effect from 6th February.

CPC chairman called for a price earlier this week too citing that in addition to the loss incurred by the cooperation, with the IOC price increase, CPC losses increased as IOC consumers also flocked to CPC fuel stations. (NewsWire)
