A gangster identified as ‘Neelaka’ who had abducted a 07-year-old boy from Kadana, Horana has been shot dead by the Police.
According to reports, ‘Neelaka’ had been shot dead during a crossfire with the Police in the Wellapitiya area in Horana this afternoon.
The child has been identified as the 24-year-old suspect’s son who had been placed under the custody of his mother-in-law in Horana.
The suspect is said to have arrived at the house in a three-wheeler and had abducted his son after firing shots into the air with a T-56 weapon around 07.40 am today.
The man is wanted by the Police for seriously injuring his wife after attacking her with a sharp object over a week ago (11).
Following the attack, the couple’s 07-year-old son had been placed in the custody of the woman’s mother in Horana.
The suspect, who has been identified as a drug addict, had abducted his son at a time when the mother of the child is reportedly undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Apart from the attack on his wife, the man is also wanted by the Police for attacking a three-wheeler driver in the Bulathsinhala area, for having an affair with his lover. (NewsWire)
