WATCH : Plastic items including syringe found in stomach of fish in Batticaloa

Video footage has been shared on social media of various items, including a syringe and plastics being found in the stomach of a fish that had been purchased by a consumer in Batticaloa.

The resident of Batticaloa who had purchased the fish for a meal said he had recorded the process of cutting open the fish as a foul smell had been emitted from the fish.

The video footage shows several items, including metal objects, a syringe, and plastics being found inside the stomach of the fish.

Commenting on the video, General Manager of the Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) Terney Pradeep said the public is being exposed to cancer and other diseases by consuming such unhealthy fish. (NewsWire)
