A woman has been arrested in the Othiyamalai area in Oddusuddan, Mullaitivu for killing an elephant through electrocution.
The Oddusuddan Police said the woman who is the owner of a farm was arrested yesterday (16).
Wildlife officers attached to the Mullaitivu division had found the body of the dead elephant on the farm of the suspect.
The elephant, assumed to be nearly 08 years of age, was confirmed to have died through electrocution.
The woman was arrested following a complaint filed with the Oddusuddan Police by the Wildlife officials based on an investigation conducted into the incident.
The 46-year-old suspect will be produced before the Mullaitivu Magistrate’s Court, while the Oddusuddan Police is conducting further investigations. (NewsWire)
