Secretary to the Ministry of Public Service, Provincial Councils and Local Government J.J Ratnasiri has sent a special circular to the heads of government institutions instructing them not to use government vehicles for non-essential travel.
Additionally, the Secretary to the Ministry has instructed the heads of institutions to restrict traveling to Colombo using government vehicles for special conferences, workshops and meetings held in Colombo.
He further stated that instead of inviting government officials to meetings in Colombo in government vehicles, those meetings will be held virtually using zoom.
Government sources revealed that these measures have been taken with the aim of reducing fuel consumption and reducing the expenses for fuel within government institutions. (NewsWire)
