President Gotabaya Rajapaksa engaged in an impromptu inspection tour of the Ratmalana Railway Maintenance yard this morning.
The Ratmalana Railway Maintenance yard is one of the oldest Government Departments in Sri Lanka.
Commenting on his inspection tour, the President tweeted that there is considerable waste that needs disposing of.
He further said that however, there remains a promising pool of talent for engineering and other skills which must be properly harnessed.
The President had also issued a directive to the Minister and Secretary of Transport during his visit.
He has instructed the two officials to appoint a commission to look into the salary, promotions, and recruitment of Sri Lanka Railway employees. (NewsWire)
